Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Schools should not pay so much attention to general subjects but should help
students prepare for specific careers and jobs.

<< 參考範文 >>
In this competitive society, more and more people nowadays pursue higher
education to strengthen their professional abilities. However, when it comes
to education in school, it has been argued that whether schools should focus
more on helping students with their future careers instead of general subjects.
In my opinion, I suggest that students should learn extensively.
To begin with, fundamental knowledge background which general subjects
provide will be essential for students when they undertake their tasks at work
in the future. Although students in different areas may require specific
professional skills, they need to have basic knowledge before they proceed with
further studies. For instance, no matter what students major in, they have to
be equipped with the capabilities of computer and foreign language skills.
Hence, it is necessary to take these primary courses before students specialize
in their interests or step into the job market.
Second, general subjects can contribute to students' creativity and
independent thinking. For example, art and music classes not only help students
relax as they are under much pressure in their studies, but also stimulate
their creativity and sense of beauty. History also tells students a myriad of
stories about how prominent people used to overcome difficulties, which give
students diverse ways to approach an issue and make decisions. As a result,
students with refreshed mind after art classes and with precious knowledge
learned from history classes will become more innovative and enlightened.
Admittedly, helping students find good jobs or careers might be one of the
policies that schools should put into practice. Some schools assist students
in acquiring certificates, which are required for certain careers.
Nevertheless, before taking these chances, students should accumulate basic
knowledge in order to enhance their own competitive advantages and analytical
thinking, which will in turn benefit them in their future workplace.
