◎ 原文:
The American Civil Rights Act of 1964 (prohibiting racebased discrimination)
was a revolutionary occurrence in American history, but the path to its
legislation was both extensive and costly. Various actions directed at halting
regional segregation laws, which isolated blacks from schools, transportation,
restaurants, and parks, were attempted from the latter 1800s. However, it was
not until the 1950s and 1960s that individuals and coherent teams, occasionally
in the hundreds and even thousands of people, participated in demonstrations
targeted at measuring the effectiveness of anti-segregation laws.Owing to
continuous political protests, the federal administration was finally convinced
to approve the Civil Rights Act in 1964, one of the most comprehensive reforms of Kracial
inequality in the United States.
