1. because of
Because of the coldness of the weather, we stayed indoors.
我們因天氣寒冷呆在家裏。
He failed his examination because of his careless work.
他由於粗心大意,數學考試沒及格.

2. due to （用於表達壞的直接原因）
Due to the extreme cold, we were unable to plant the trees.
由於天氣很冷, 所以我們無法去植樹.
The event has been postponed indefinitely due to lack of interest.
由於反應冷淡,這一活動被無限期地擱置了.

be 動詞 + due to （不限原因的好壞）
His illness was due to overwork.
他的病是由於工作過度.
*應得的
The wage due to him will be paid tomorrow.

3. owing to 由於；因為 = due to
Owing to the rain, the meeting has to be put off.
會議因雨而推遲了。
I couldn’t attend the meeting owing to illness.

4. On account of = fml because of (正式用法) 基於…理由
On account of his extravagance he was plunged into heavy debt.
