高分必修課：如何寫出高手級有層次的滿分托福作文??

各位同學大家好:
威廉老師這週要跟大家談談托福寫作題目的解法，這次針對題目有子句的題型。
很多同學下筆時，題目都沒完全了解，就想趕快下筆，往往回答錯誤。
以今天要談的主題(有子句的題目)來說，只有針對題目的”一半”進行回答，
而忽略了這副詞子句的條件。

同學都知道這文法觀念，副詞連接詞，是不能單獨存在的，如because, if, although等
，它們必須要再配合另一個句子而達成”因果”或是”條件”的句子目標。我們以三題近
期預測的托福真經作文題跟大家講解:

以托福寫作題目來說，這類的題目偏難，因為考生要對題目的條件完全詮釋。
如下面真經題目:
Agree or disagree: if a university wants to attract good students, it must
spend a lot of money on social activity for students.
如果一個大學為了吸引好學生，一定要花很多錢在學生的校園社交活動上面。

很多學生最後只回答IF子句裡的條件而變成迳大學如何吸引好學生(只回答一半)也有很多
學生，寫成社交活動的好處，所以大學要多花一些錢在這上面。這一題是”條件句”。也
就要有層次的寫法，請看威廉老師的邏輯分析:

(第一層)社團活動的好處是?
學會溝通、減壓、領導統御、第二專長、培養人脈、找到志同道合的朋友或未來生意夥伴
、學習如何和不同人打交道或和討厭的人共事，團隊合作…



學生可以學什麼?
他們學得這個事項對他們有何幫助?(如未來工作…)
花很多錢在這社團活動上，會讓這些活動更好?

(第二層)最後 ，好學生當然被吸引了， 因為他們覺得這(因社團活動帶來的學習)很重要
，如果學校花很多錢在此方面，校園社交活動一定可以更豐富，更有利學習。

例如: (From a student)
Firstly, colleges investing social activities enable students to build up
their social network. For instance, if universities can offer a chance for
students who are looking for job experience, such as internship, can help
them enhance the capability for their future career. (第一層→他們學得這個事項
對他們有何幫助?) Undoubtedly, those factors are the attraction to potential
students who know they need such skill to gain ideal jobs after graduation. (
第二層→好學生當然被吸引了，因為他們覺得這因社團活動帶來的學習很重要)
Therefore, if universities spend a great deal of money on such social
activities, they can definitely draw the attention of future students who
know the importance of building up social connections from the internship
schools prepare for them. (拉回題目→故，如果學校花很多錢在此方面，校園社交活
動一定可以更豐富，更有利學習。)

再來一段: (From William. 閱讀版 字神托福真經課範文)
Secondly, social activities bring college students the ability to cultivate a
second professional skill other than their work. (清楚主題) When more money
is invested in social activities, more great organizations or clubs will be
funded with a larger amount of money, such as swimming pools, basketball
courts, tennis court, and the like. (解釋→如果學校花很多錢在此方面，校園社交
活動一定可以更豐富，更有利學習。) Nowadays many college students are not so
sure about their interest or even their majors. So by participating in those
activities, they can find out what they truly like since there is no pressure
exerted to students on any commitment. With carefree learning in the group,
they tend to discover what they actually excel at. (第一層→他們學得這個事項對
他們有何幫助?) A case in point, a student majoring in literature may find out
that he can design APP programs for games by joining the APP club at
university. This will help him gain a professional knowledge in addition to
his own major. (第一層→他們學得這個事項對他們有何幫助? →具體例子1) Another
example is about William Henry Gates who was a law major in college, yet by
joining school activities, he met some people who were really adept at
computers, so he then learned it by himself and created a great kingdom of
computer software. (第一層→他們學得這個事項對他們有何幫助? →具體例子2)
Thus, in order to attract more good students, spending more money on social
activities is a must. Students all long to learn as much as they can, not
being limited solely to books. (第二層迳好學生當然被吸引了， 因為他們覺得這因
社團活動帶來的學習很重要)

來一段反方，讓同學更清楚題目的解法 (立場: 大學如果要吸引好學生，是不用一定得花
很多錢在校園社交活動上)→閱讀版

To begin with, college students should lay emphasis on their major.(清楚主題→
它因) In other words, this is the foremost purpose for them to come to
university, which will help them learn and advance professional expertise in
the field they major. (解釋一→為何Social activities 沒幫助) Spending a lot
of money in social activities also means the total school budget for other
school investment will comparatively reduce. (解釋二→投資太多錢在social
activities 有和整體的不利)This is not sound for future students who focus on
library for better research environment, on laboratory for innovative
equipment, as well as on renowned professors for inspiring lectures.(它因→學
校應該花多一點錢在這些事物上) For a great number of potential students, those
conditions are something they consider, rather than social activities that
are emphasized much.(拉回主題→未來的學生就會被吸引過來) Higher education is
not like the stage of high schools in which students are still searching for
self-identification or interests.(大學的角色→更針對題目) Thus, schools
should not spend a lot of money on those social activities, neglecting all
the academic developments in school. Besides, with the money saved, schools
can also make better use of the budget to the Internet quality, music related
instruments, stadiums, auditoriums or cafeteria, which are all great
investment to attract potential students. (拉回主題→學校應該花多一點錢在這些
事物上→未來的學生都能重視這些學校的投資)

最後補充 1:
什麼是 Social Activities?
Simply put, it is associating with other people in group activities, such as
clubs, sports, and other leisure or intern activities. 以大學來說，就是非學科
等正課的事務。

最後補充 2: 同學到外國讀書時，如要更貼近美國文化，可以加入學校社團，和大學生一
起”混”社團。因為亞洲人看起來比實際年齡年輕，故基本上他們不會把你當作”大哥哥
”或”大姊姊。” 和其他人沒什麼兩樣。威廉老師就利用第一學期加入”桌球社”也順
利打入校隊(最後一名)，和大學生們去了好幾間大學比賽，和大學生們一起”鬼混。”和
他們聊天喝酒。豐富語文博彩性。事實上，我每次回家後，就趕快回憶今天和大學生的對
話或是在一群人當中，他們彼此的對話，記在筆記本裡。記了好幾大筆記本呢! 以下這個
圖是某一間大學的社團活動，列表一的社團是”Survival”，是否和末日有關呢? 真令人
想參加吧。
