Rather than help their children doing school work, parents should
encourage their children do work independently. Do you agree or
disagree?

Some people would like parents to help their children finishing
homework, while on the other hand, some would not like parents to
involve too much in their children's work because this will let
children dependent on the parents' assistance. In my point of view,
parents should play a role as an advisor or mentor, but not just a
direct helper. This essay will discuss the issue of encouraging
children to do their school work independently.

Many children prefer to get help from others when they do not have
any sense on how to conduct a work. This is because they tend to get
help first instead of thinking how to solve the problem by themselves.
But in fact this is not a good habit for children to learn something new.
If they always rely on someone's help, this should not be surprising
that they will lose many opportunity for studying how to handle task
solely on their own. So in this consideration, parents should act as a
role model for their children, encouraging them to think problem
independently and to find out their own method to answer the questions.

Therefore helping the children without telling them any philosophy
about "try it yourself first" is not an educational choice. Although
helping them doing the homework directly with no comments might save
some times of their parents. Since nowadays many parents are so busy
for their jobs, and may have no time to carefully teach their
children's work. While I do believe that spending a little bit more
time to guide their untrained children and giving them more care by
accompanying them through the whole work progress will benefit their
children and finally lower the parents' burden of their educational plan.

The way to encourage children depends on different personal
characteristics of parents. Parents should decide the possible way
whether it is suitable for themselves and their children. The method
will vary from one family to another. However, no matter how difference
there are, parents should take serious about this topic and prepare
their children facing for the future challenge. Encouraging children
to work independently will be a very good standing point for their
tomorrow's success. (363 words)
