Hope vs Wish 四個用法比較 - 英檢

Hope 和 Wish的差別 很多學生搞不清楚搞不清楚 很多人受到 "We wish you a Merry
Christmas 這首歌的影響，將 wish 和 hope的用法 "窄化".
下面是四個 hope or wish 大致的用法

1. Hope + that 子句

記得：Hope + that 子句 （後接有可能發生的事情 所以用一般時態 未來的情況就用未
來式 如果已完成就用完成式)

例) I hope (that) you will remember to buy some souvenirs for me.

例) I hope everything is (things are) going well with you. (email的起頭)

例) I hope they have finished the homework when I get home.

2. Wish ＋ that-子句

記得: 後面陳述的事實是不可能改變的事情 和現在事實相反或和過去事實相反

例) I wish (that) we could be together again. (已經分手了 而且沒有復合的可能性
)

例) I wish (that) you were here. (他再怎麼努力都不可能去)

3. 表示祝福 (offer good wishes) 的時候 只能用 I wish

像生日會說的 I wish you a happy birthday 就是一例

(不可用hope)

當然還有 We wish you a Merry Christmas...

4. 後接不定詞時 wish 跟 hope 用法相似 可想成比較formal的want

例) I wish to see the supervisor.

例) I hope to address my concerns.
