小弟英文破爛，嘗試翻譯一點粗體字的原文，有許多翻不好的地方還請指教。

"I'm quite nervous to bring it up because I still haven't really for-

mulated my own ideas about it"

接下來的議題我其實也不太敢提出來，因為我自己還沒想清楚這個議題

"Beyonce's new album. I don't know if you have spoken to anyone about

it, but my friend and I sat and we watch all the videos back-to-back

and I was really conflicted."

我不知道你有沒有和別人聊過碧昂絲的新專輯。我和我朋友坐下來把其中每部影

片(應該是指MV)看完了，看完後我感到非常矛盾

"So I admire her confidence to put her music out in that way, in amidst

all these very sensationalist MTV performances, I was so psyched about

it. On the one hand she is putting herself in a category of feminist,

this very strong woman - and she has beautiful speech by Chimamanda Ngozi

Adichie in one of her songs - but then in the camera, it felt very male,

such a male voyeuristic experience of her and I just wondered if you had

thoughts about that?"

我覺得她出了這樣一張專輯實在是勇氣可嘉，裡面有好些顛覆性的MV鏡頭，讓我

思考了很久。一方面她以女性主義者自居，她是一個強而有力的女性，而且在MV

中還有一段Adichie的精彩演講(Adichie為美國的非裔知名作家)。但另一方面，

在鏡頭底下的她看起來卻是為了男人而活(very male,不知道怎麼翻妥當)，因為

她展現了這麼多露骨的鏡頭。你有甚麼想法嗎?

"I would say two things. One is that in her position, and for a lot of

young musicians, actors or people in our industry, it's as though you

get a memo: don't be seen with your boyfriend or your wife or your child

because you still want your audience to believe or male fans of Beyonce

to believe that the could still possess her; that in some alternative

universe the could be with her."

我的感想有二。首先，碧昂絲的身分讓她和其他許多音樂人、演員都必須接受一個

潛規則: 不要讓人發現你有男朋友/老婆/小孩。因為我們(演藝人員)會希望讓觀眾

相信自己可以擁有我們，或是在某個平行宇宙中可以和我們在一起。以碧昂絲的例

子來說，就是她的男性粉絲。

"So by publically exposing her marriage, that she is in a committed rela-

tionship, that she has a child, is probably really against that kind of

memo and she does make clear that she is performing for him. And the fact

she wasn't doing it for a label, she was doing it for herself and the con-

trol she has directing it and putting it out there, I agree is making her

sexuality empowering because it is her choice."

而在她的MV中她公開了她的婚姻、小孩，這是對於潛規則的巨大的反抗。另外她也

明確讓觀眾知道她是為了她老公而表演，但她不是為了某個標籤而表演，而是為了

她自己。此外，她對於MV中的表演有充分的主導權，這再次強調了她的性別權利(

sexuality，不知道怎麼翻比較好)，因為這完全是她自由意志的展現。

"The second is that I would say you get a sense of,"I can be a feminist,

I can be an intellectual, I can be all these other things, but I can also

be okay with my femininity and being pretty and with all these things that

I thought might negate my message or negate what I am about". That really

is the most interesting thing about the album. It is so inclusive and puts

feminism and female empowerment on such a broad spectrum."

除此之外，我認為在MV中你可以感受到一個訊息：「我可以是女性主義者，我可以是

一個有知識的人，我可以身兼多種身分，但我也同時認可我的女性身分並且用我認為

可以表現自己、表達自己的方式讓我自己漂漂亮亮的。」我認為這是這張專輯最引人

入勝的一點。這個訊息的包容性很強，它把「女性主義」帶到了一個更開闊的境界。
