考試後更改名字 - 英檢

我是在考試當天(9/11)由監考人員告知我名字有誤(姓&名寫相反了 = =)
他們當天還是讓我進去考 只跟我說回去之後要寫信給ETS更正
也沒有幫我改

考試完隔天我寫給ETS說我要修正我在註冊時犯的錯誤
並按照之前版友分享附上了相關證件(護照、身分證)及相關資訊

隔了兩天(9/14)收到回信
We cannot comply with your request to change the information appearing on
your examinee score record. The information presented on the computer at the
test center comes from the information you provided in your online profile
when you registered for your test. Only minor corrections can be made on the
day of the test by the test center administrator. TOEFL program policy does
not allow us to change or delete identifying information on the examinee file
after the test date.

We regret that we cannot be of more assistance to you at this time.

這應該是統一回覆格式

到這邊跟之前大家討論的結果一樣
如果是考試前或考試當天考場幫你修正並回報ETS
還有機會更改成功

但是如果考試後才要求更改的話，就沒有辦法了

但後來我9/15又寄了一封信(信長，附於文末)
信件內容有點鑽他們的制度缺失漏洞來質疑他們

他們說會幫我往上呈報再回覆我

不過我等了一個禮拜都沒收到回信
於是又寫信去問他們一次(9/21)

沒想到他們回信說，我的名字已經在9/17就修改好了

跟之前版友說的一樣，名字改好並不會另行通知
而是要自己上網去看!!

anyway,本來以為考試完就不能修正名字上的錯誤
但是這次經驗我覺得很多東西還是要自己爭取
即使是ETS也是有"人"在處理這類事務
只要你說得通，能說服他們，沒有什麼事是不可能的

希望能給有同樣困擾的人一些幫助喔

另，
我也有打電話給台灣ETS，是一個有腔調的外國人接的
他只說他們這邊沒有權力更改註冊資料
要寫信or打電話到美國去才可以

以下是他們拒絕修改我名字之後，我又寄過去的信(9/21)
信件內容有點長，沒有這個需要的這邊就可以跳出囉 :P

Thank you for your prompt reply. ETS is the most efficient institution I have
ever seen. I deeply appreciate that you have taken the time to consider my
problem.

But I have one more question about the process of changing my name. My
situation is that I didn't know that I had made a mistake on my name until
the staff of the test center told me, which was just before the test began.
So my question is the following:

"Is the test center obligated to report to ETS if they discover an
inconsistency between the registered name and the name on the student's
passport ?"

I ask this question because I have some friends who had also made a similar
mistake on their names, however, the staff of the test center helped them
report it to ETS. Eventually, all of them had their names corrected
successfully!
Going back to my question.

If your answer is "YES", then I could seek damages from the test center where
I took the test. They should take the responsibility for their carelessness.
Due to their negligence, I had spent USD160 and got nothing! My TOEFL score
is invalid because they didn't have my name corrected!

If your answer is "NO", then I will have doubts on the reliability of ETS.
How can you permit a person to take the test when the name in her passport
differs from that in her registration document? In other words, anyone could
have replaced me to take the test. Isn't this a serious problem? The staff at
the test center knew that there was a mistake on my name, but they still let
me take the test. What if I were someone else?

I know rules are rules. Maybe you cannot help me with my name correction, but
you can help yourselves to improve your process of training invigilators.

I am just a poor student who wants to study abroad. I only earn USD350 per
month, and the test cost me almost half my salary. All I want is fair
treatment.(這邊在裝可憐)

I know it was my own mistake to begin with. But there are others who have
made the same mistakes and then had their names corrected. They and I have
the same problem but we end up with different consequences. That seems
rather unfair to me.
