登峰小補丸‧留遊學 i 不怕!〈禮節篇〉 - 英檢

◎ 暖身練習句‧就要這樣學：

→ What can I do to avoid making a faux pas when I'm with my friends from
other countries?

(我和外國朋友在一起的時候要怎麼避免失禮呢?)

→ Every country is different when it comes to rules of etiquette. Just watch
and learn.

(說到禮節，每個國家都不一樣。邊留意邊學就好!)

◎ 禮節七要‧讓你暢行無阻!

1. In Chinese, politeness is usually expressed through tone of voice, but you
should always say please and thank you, no matter what you're asking for or
getting.

(中文裡禮貌常透過語氣來表達，不過你還是應該將「請」和「謝謝」常掛嘴邊，
不管是提出要求還是得到幫助。)

2. Do not burp loudly in public. If you must burp, cover your mouth, and make
as little noise as possible. After you're done burping, always say,
"Excuse me."

(不要當眾打嗝。如果你非做不可，也要把嘴巴遮住，盡可能減低音量。打完嗝後，
也要說聲「抱歉」。)

3. If you need to sneeze or cough, turn away from people or food, and cover
your mouth. If someone sneezes, you can say, "Bless you."

(如果你得打噴嚏或咳嗽，不要對著別人或食物，還要遮嘴巴。如果有人打噴嚏，
你可以說「保佑你」。)

4. If a person gives you a gift, it's a good idea to send them a thank-you
card.

(有人送你禮物，回一張謝卡是不錯得做法)

5. If you go through a door and someone is right behind you, hold open the
door for them.

(如果你進出門的時候有人就在你後面，應替他把門扶住。)

6. Do not openly stare at people. You will be seeing many different kinds of
people while you travel, and it is considered extremely rude to stare at a
person, even if he/she does look a bit strange. If you get caught staring,
look out!

(不要公然盯著別人看。旅途上你會看到很多不同的人，盯著別人會被認為極度無禮，
即使他們看來有點怪，如果你被抓到正在盯著別人看，可得小心了!)

7. If you are getting on a bus or subway, or stepping into an elevator, let
everyone out before entering.

(下公車、地鐵或是進電梯的時候，應先讓所有人出來才進去。)
