河堤國小的用地以前是軍營沒錯，一直到2011年左右才爭取到成為河
堤國小的用地。這地方以前叫「鼎新營區」，所屬單位應該是軍備局
營產中心。裡面嘛，也就一些庫房和一棟兩層樓的營舍，還有個不大
不小的操場的樣子。根據地方的說法，既然是營產中心，裡面堆的大
概也不外乎是營房修繕用的料件之類的東西。更早之前的用途不明，
好像不知道哪裡聽來的資訊，是高雄很早期陸軍醫院還在市區，沒遷
移到鳳山（也就是後來的８０２總醫院，現在正名為高雄總醫院）以
前，用來堆放醫料器材的庫房。
總之鼎新營區似乎不像是個有太多奇怪的傳說的地方。
