隸屬於雲嘉南濱海風景區，位於台南市北門區的北門遊客中心以及周圍的
一些景點，近年來越來越受到觀光客的重視與青睞，每到假日的時候都會
看到參觀的人潮絡繹不決地湧入。這次來的時候發現在遊客中心外面的草
皮上多了一些裝置藝術，遊客們也爭相地與這些特色藝品合照

最邊邊的水池也有一隻大抹香鯨，大概是紀念2005年時，
在北門永隆村擱淺死掉的抹香鯨

除了裝置藝術之外，也有像這個小型風力發電的示範機器，
上面還標有目前的發電量

遊客中心的左邊彩繪成相當鮮艷的歐式建築造型還有一個大大的時間給遊客拍照

接著我們就要進入遊客中心內參觀，進去之前可以看一下開放時間與注意事項

右邊有遊客中心的竣工誌，以及一個大叔造型的吉祥物公仔

整個遊客中心最大的展品就是2005年擱淺的抹香鯨的教育標本，
大約佔了遊客中心內部的一半左右

除了抹香鯨之外，這裡也有很多互動是的機台供遊戲與小朋友操作。

當然，這裡的主要功能還是介紹雲嘉南濱海風景區，其中包括了台南將軍
、台南北門、台南台江、台南七股、嘉義布袋、嘉義東石與雲林口湖等區域

遊客中心的詢問台，可以詢問附近景點與各項旅遊相關業務

服務台的左邊有個書架，裡面放了非常多的台灣旅遊介紹，有交通部觀光
局製作的型錄，也有台南市與其他縣市製作的型錄，而且全部都是免費索
取。想知道台灣旅遊的簡介，真的不用花大錢去買書籍，官方其實都已經
幫大家整理好囉！

參觀完了北門遊客中心，我們要徒步前往不遠處的烏腳病紀念園區，途中
會經過一處相當有特色的古早味雜貨店：「錢來也」裡面有飯賣各是冰品
、飲料和一些古早味的小玩意，如果走累了不彷在這邊歇歇腳，喝點飲料再上路吧！

烏腳病紀念園區分為三個部份：北門免費診所、金河診所以及王金河故居。
我們選擇了從北門免費診所開始參觀

這裡是王金河醫師當年為北門鄉親敏費看診的地方，
很多設施都保留成當時的模樣，一進門後就是掛號處

王金河醫師，為北門地方的烏腳病奮鬥了一生，有「台灣烏腳病之父」的
稱號。烏腳病是早期台灣西南沿海地區特有的末梢血管阻塞疾病，因患者
雙足發黑而得名，病患因為無藥可治最終只能截肢。後來才知道是因為長
期飲用地下水導致砷中毒所引發，當自來水普及之後烏腳病就沒有發生過新的案例

謝緯醫師，協助王金河醫師開刀的外科醫師，協助成立北門烏腳病免費診
所，每星期自南投縣乘計程車至北門鄉義診，「臺灣史懷哲」之稱

當年診所的醫療器材、藥品與開刀手術房，可以看得出來在如此惡劣的環
境下，王金河與其他義診的醫師是如此克難地為了貧苦的民眾看病

診所後面是為了病患成立的住宿及手工藝品工廠，因為當時被截肢的病人
多為窮苦的民眾，截肢完之後更是失去了謀生能力。王金河醫師為了讓這
些病患能自力更生，就在診所後面的地方成立的工廠，每天還親自背行動
不便的截肢病患到工廠去製作一些手工藝品來維生

工廠邊的洗手台特別矮，連一年級的小朋友都要彎腰才能洗手，從這些小
地方就可以知道王醫師對病患的用心

王金河醫師的訪談，從氣色與神情上絕對看不出來當時他已經高齡94歲了
。這段訪談正在說當時王金河醫師要幫窮苦的鄉民義診時，遭到家族中其
他人的反對。而原因現在聽起來可能會感到不可思議，但在當年的時空背
景來說是非常合理的反應。一個士紳等級的醫師，又經歷鄉長與縣議員的
職位，怎麼能與這些「骯髒」的人為伍呢？但王金河醫師還是堅持作對的
事，不顧反對的聲音要幫助這些貧苦無助的民眾

金河診所的對面是王醫師的故居，現在已經變成旅客服務中心，裡面有當
初的房間與王醫師賢伉儷的合照，以及王醫師的紀念銅像等等

2011年4月11日，這是站長第一次去烏腳病園區，
也是第一次和最後一次與王醫師的合照

王醫師在2013年12月31日時還有回來台南來跟大家一起迎接最後一到夕陽
，2014年1月1日還繼續在金河診所與遊客合照、簽名等等，但幾天後因為
腦溢血住進台大醫院。2014年3月13日晚間8點15分，王醫師因腦溢血併發
心臟衰竭，病逝於臺大醫院，享壽98歲。
