Your school has received a gift of money from alumni. Which of the following do
you think is the best investment?

1. Big screen for sports live event;
2. Theater for outdoor music concert; or
3. Video game and table game center.

Use reasons and examples in your response.


你的學校獲得校友捐贈一筆錢。你覺得下列何者是最好的用途？

1. 用來看即時體育賽事的大螢幕；
2. 可以舉辦戶外音樂會的劇院；或
3. 電玩和桌遊中心。

請用理由與例子來解釋你的想法。


解題思路：

選擇: 就我個人而言，我認為蓋一間電玩和桌遊中心是最好的投資。
Personally speaking, I think building a video game and table game center is the
best investment.

理由一: 一個理由是這個中心將讓學生在現實生活中交朋友
One reason is that the center will allow students to make friends in real life.

理由二: 其次，雖然朋友也可以在劇院碰面，觀看運動賽事或聽音樂會時沒辦法聊太多。相
對地，玩桌遊時，你可以告訴朋友自己的近況。
Second, although friends can also meet up at the theater, watching sports events
or listening to music concerts doesn't allow friends to chat much. In contrast,
when playing board games, you can tell your friend what's going on in your life.



高分範例：

就我個人而言，我認為蓋一間電玩和桌遊中心是最好的投資。一個理由是這個中心將讓學生
在現實生活中交朋友。打電玩遊戲讓人交到虛擬世界的朋友，但真實生活中，當你需要陪伴
的時候，這種朋友就沒有什麼用了。學校的遊戲中心讓學生可以跟朋友碰面出去玩。其次，
雖然朋友也可以在劇院碰面，觀看運動賽事或聽音樂會時沒辦法聊太多。相對地，玩桌遊時
，你可以告訴朋友自己的近況。這是為何我認為蓋電玩桌遊中心是最好的選擇。

解題思路：

選擇: 就我的看法，當大人比當小孩難。
In my opinion, it's harder to be an adult than being a child.

理由一: 大人有許多責任要負。
Adults have many responsibilities to shoulder..

讓步：有些人可能會說當大人比較容易，因為大人比小孩擁有更多自由。
Some may argue that it's easier to be adults because adults enjoy more freedom
than kids.

理由二: 沒錯。但是大人自由是因為他們對自己的決定與行為負完全的責任，這是很有挑戰
性的事。
True. But they are free because they can take total charge of their own
decisions and behavior, which is very challenging.



高分範例：

就我的看法，當大人比當小孩難，因為大人有許多責任要負。大人要賺錢、遵守法律、扮演
好家長、好朋友、好伴侶的角色。當不同的角色產生衝突時，他們必須權衡輕重，學會妥協
。有些人可能會說當大人比較容易，因為大人比小孩擁有更多自由。沒錯。但是大人自由是
因為他們對自己的決定與行為負完全的責任，這是很有挑戰性的事。因此，我認為當大人沒
有比較容易。
